Sense of Press is a design and print studio that seeks to provide accessible and meaningful platforms for artists to produce and disseminate art and ideas. From simple posters and stationery to zines, books, and custom print ephemera, Sense of Press offers a range of services to bring ideas into being.

In addition to custom services, Sense of Press produces a range of artist books, prints, and designed statonery available for purchase through our online store, and periodically hosts making workshops in our studio in downtown Baltimore.

The press began in 2019 when founder Nicole Ringel purchased a defunct RP3700 Risograph Digital Duplicator. Over the course of the following year, Nicole serviced and repaired the machine while amassing the resources needed to print, bind, trim, and finish artistically innovative projects and artist books.

In the summer of 2021, the studio moved into the Maryland Art Place building and welcomed SJ Brekosky as a press collaborator. SJ has worked alongside Nicole to host free zine-making workshops, print sales, and open studio events while collaborating with local artists to produce artist books, zines, and other printed materials. As SoP continues to grow, we are excited collaboratively discuss and disseminate ideas through printmaking and design.
